Jumble and Pearls is a quirky, independent vintage and designer fair, bringing you a treasure trove of retro and local designer clobber at bargain prices - with yummy cakes and cocktails to boot!
The fusion of craft, design and tasty treats all under one roof sounded too good to be true, so last Saturday designer Alison and I popped along to their latest event hosted at The Book Club in Shoreditch.
Downstairs at the Book Club was a very different scene to that of our Christmas party (which you can read about here!). The basement space was transformed into a ‘beautiful cave of treasures’, with stalls selling decorative toilet roll holders made from skateboard wheels, to a workshop on how to make your very own nipple tassels!
The Book Club’s basement bar was transformed into a quirky, secretive, micro-market.
Above: The nipple tassel workshop. We’re sure this will take retail by storm in a few years!
Delving into the piles of vintage clothing (some selling for as low as 50p) whilst the Boogaloo Soul, Funk and Blues music courtesy of DJ WIcked Lady played, was a welcome distraction from the dreary grey outside.
Whilst nosing around the independent designer artists’ stalls, Alison managed to win herself some beautiful pieces in a competition run by surface textile designer Isabella Salamone who recycles vintage fabric, transforming it into stationary, fashion accessories and home decor (below).
A crafty and creative day out - watch this space for the next Jumble & Pearls extravaganza!
